Amy Blogs Dante

We all know the genius of Dante Fried Chicken who not only hosts his own cooking show where he invites artists and musicians to cook with him (the latest features Santigold whipping up some coconut mac & cheese) but also runs Ride or Fry the food delivery service where he delivers his infamous homemade fried chicken right to your door. So it's no surprise that one of our favourite food bloggers Amy Blogs Chow decided to spend an afternoon chilling with Dante and write up a little feature on him.
Check out the piece here to see what the two got up to and look at photos of the downtown chef making his black sesame crust cherry pie. While you're there, if you haven't read through Amy Blogs Chow yet click around and feast upon her wicked food photography and snappy writing. Don't tell anyone but we at Protein are working on our Food Network launch as I type this and you can expect much more of Amy and Dante...watch out!

Studio East Dining by Bistroteque

Team Bistroteque (http://www.bistroteque.com) are opening a pop-up restaurant on the still-being-built Westfield shopping centre in Stratford. Perched on the rooftop of the new Olympic site, the restaurant will be the first public event to take place and is looking to be an ambitious and exciting project for the Bistroteque boys. Known as much for their fresh cuisine as for their clientele, Team Bistroteque are sure to whip up a spin for Studio East Dining. For reservations, click here: http://www.studioeastdining.com/
To find out more about Studio East, check out http://uk.westfield.com/stratfordcity/studio-east/ which houses a blog and a new project where you can nominate your friends to be shortlisted for a series of £10,00 creative bursaries across the cultural field. Judges include Tracey Emin, Roland Mouret, Erin O'Connor and Tom Dixon.

Get Cookin'
If you're as domestically challenged as I am you'll be impressed by the KitchenAid Grand Cooker. Designed by Roberto Bertrain, the kitchen appliance lets you fry, roast, grill, simmer, and saute all in the same machine! Plus, it looks like some sort of retro throwback art piece, which can't be a bad thing.

Ride or Fry

Our man Dante Gonzales is on the move. Not content with blowing things up with M.I.A., Theophilus London, and Santogold, DFC has launched Ride or Fry, his take on this whole underground/mobile dinner party concept.
Instead of getting you to ride down to a secret location for a pop up, underground restaurant, the fine dining now comes to you. Dante's “ChickenRidaz,” a largely rail-thin and hoodie-clad group of friends from the music and art scenes, will deliver $10 boxes of food in ecofriendly containers for free below 14th Street (minimum order is four boxes, or it’s $2 per box), or to Brooklyn with a $10 delivery charge. The four-box minimum is not just for convenience: The chef hopes friends will get together and send out for chicken. "We’re trying to create a viral party experience," he says.
There are limited numbers for each day with preference given to pre-orders via pay pal. Hold tight for more news on DFC taco truck launching soon in LA.
Augmented (Hyper) Reality
This film was produced by Architecture Masters student Keiichi Matsuda, as part of a larger project about the social and architectural consequences of new media and augmented reality.
