Quintetto by Quiet Ensemble

Quintetto by Quiet Ensemble from yatzer on Vimeo.

Quintetto is the latest project by Fabio Di Salvo and Bernardo Vercelli aka Quiet Ensemble. Winner of third prize at the International Contemporary Art Prize - Celeste Prize, Quintetto is an installation based on the study of the casual movement of fish used as input for the production of sounds. Quiet Ensemble calls these casual movements "invisible concerts",  and these concerts can be anything from walking to the subway or driving to work, anywhere there is a conceptual relationship between the natural and built environment.

Alt 1977 – Alex Varanese

Stumbled upon this wicked series that re-imagines 1977 as if the tech from today existed then. View the full set

Cassette Art

Erika Iris Simmons uses analog things like vhs tapes, audio cassettes and 8mm film to create her art. “Ghosts in the Machine” is a series that creates 50 portraits using things that have become junk to many.

Nike Shaman x Zoltar

Zoltar Projects-way, the cult design label turned art collective are unveiling their latest Nike Sportswear project, Nike Shaman. From Thursday morning you will see 5 looming figures appear in spots around the Nike 1948 Stadium, Shoreditch-based store / gallery, and here’s a heads up onto what will be an incredibly inspired, sport x art installation.

NIKE78

NIKE78 is an exciting new project created by Paul Jenkins and inspired by NIKE. Challenging what a NIKE sports shoe does, creatives that are involved with the project are asked to use sport as an inspiration to create something entirely different. All the outcomes are incredible, the W+K Tokyo Lab have designed an aquarium out of the original sports shoe which houses live fish! The shoe ends up looking really ethereal and beautiful.

The project is documented on the website and an exhibition showcase is planned for the London Design Festival 2010. The project was launched on Sunday and is really awe-inspiring...definitely worth checking out.

Diagram of the Heart x Village Green

Village Green, Diagram Of The Heart are the latest summer time duo ramping up and across the interweb with their electro pop anthem Dead Famous (out 5th July). The first signings to the legendary and recently resurrected Deconstruction label (Black Box, Robert Miles, The Grid...) Kye Sones and Anthony Gorry are going to be massive. Trust. It’s that sun drenched electro that crosses over perfectly... their licensing guy must be laughing. We stood spectacle to one of their early shows at YoYo, and if you take Kanye’s lead, kids throwing up (gang) band, heart hand signs before a single has even been released... well, must be a good sign of things to come. But back to Village Green, their inventive deconstructed / reconstructed design vibe for Fabric, Beck’s Fusions, Mark Ronson and that exploding egg cover for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are pretty stellar, so check them out alongside DOTH (Michael Woods Remix is available on Beatport now) as soon as.

Max Spencer

Max Spencer was Protein's super intern a month back. Coming all the way up from Falmouth to spend a month at the Protein offices this barely-turned 20-year-old left an inimitable mark on the Protein Journal (basically designing the entire magazine and taking care of the centre spreads) and our fam as a whole. Cheers Max ... and cheers to our NY family The KDU for the intros. He's launched a new site with some new work up there so go check it and get your cheque books out.
