Trash Humpers
Harmony Korine' describes his latest film Trash Humpers as “a new type of horror; palpable and raw.” Released by Warp Films and Alcove Entertainment, Trash Humpers is a horror-slash-comedy that revolves around a gang of elderly peeping toms that literally trash hump their way around town.
If you haven't seen the trailer yet, what you can expect is a documentary-style voyeuristic look into Korine's famously bizarro mind causing News Week to state that it "leaves the residue of an authentic nightmare. You'll want to shower afterward." It can only be expected that a film from the man that brought us Kids and Gummo will be shocking and Korine is getting more creative with what will scare us, resulting in actors wearing creepy old masks doing the deed in Kentucky's back alleys.
Harmony Korine has cast his real-life wife Rachel as one of the elderly delinquents and shot most of it in his hometown of Nashville. It's been regarded as the director's least accessible film to date so if you're not a fan of long periods of uncomfortable subject matter it's probably not for you.
We haven't seen the film yet but we'll be hitting up a screening (you can get your tickets here) at select venues. It'll be interesting to see whether Korine's latest lives up to the hype or becomes a next level deranged art project.

Last week Dutch agency Muse and Samsung introduced the brand's new line of 3D LED TVs with a large-scale commercial 3D outdoor projection onto the Beurs van Berlage, a historic building in the center of Amsterdam. The event lasted for three days and also included live demos of the new Samsung TVs in an adjacent square. The Auteurs -> Mubi
Not content with winning a Webby the other week, our friends at The Auteurs have decided to rebrand themselves Mubi. Why? Well, it might have something to do with a partnership they've just announced with SCEE to bring the service exclusively to the PlayStation3. We're all for this as there isn't enough decent independent film out there and to see it on a platform like the PS3 can only be good news for all the filmmakers and the filmlovers out there.

MUBI founder Efe Çakarel said: “MUBI is the fastest growing online destination for lovers of independent, foreign and classic film - and it is amazing how many people that covers. Our partnership with PlayStation brings online cinema to TV screens in homes around the world giving PlayStation owners a whole new world of entertainment to explore. And discovery couldn’t be more fun - from finding out about the films behind the latest buzz at Cannes, to taking the film recommendation of MUBI members like Martin Scorsese.”
MUBI for PS3 will be launched this autumn initially in the UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Iberia, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Benelux, Nordic countries, Australia and New Zealand. Prepare to dim your lights and enjoy the main feature.

Hope is Missing
While going through some older files I found this case study for an ARG that I ran in 2007.
CINEMATIC GAMES: The first version of the cinema ARG started with a number of mashup screenings of my newest feature film HEAD TRAUMA. Version 1.0 was a collision of music, movies, gaming and tech. Here is a story that Current TV did about the release.

Stones in Exile (2010) Stephen Kijak
In the spring of 1971 the Rolling Stones departed the UK to take up residence in France as tax exiles. Keith Richards settled at a villa called Nellcôte in Villefranche-sur-Mer and this became the venue for the recording of much of the bands masterpiece Exile On Main Street. Stones In Exile tells the story in the bands own words and through extensive archive footage of their time away from England and the creation of this extraordinary double album, which many regard as the Rolling Stones finest achievement.
